Dinero (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates thedineroapp.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our budgeting application.

By using Dinero, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password (encrypted). We never store passwords in plain text.

Financial Data You Enter: Transactions, budgets, savings goals, investment holdings, card balances, and income entries that you manually input into the app. This data is yours and is stored securely in our database.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage analytics such as page views, feature usage, and session duration to improve the app experience.

Payment Information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Dinero application
  • Process your subscription payments via Stripe
  • Send essential account emails (password resets, security alerts)
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Respond to support requests

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

4. Data Storage & Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. Access controls ensure users can only view their own information.

While we take reasonable steps to safeguard your data, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services for hosting, authentication, payment processing, and market data. No personal financial data is shared with these providers. Each service operates under their own privacy policy.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can export your transaction data as CSV from the Settings page at any time.

To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at support@thedineroapp.com. We will permanently delete your data within 30 days of your request.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

Dinero uses browser local storage to maintain your login session, theme preference, and app settings. We do not use tracking cookies. If analytics are implemented, they use anonymous, cookie-free methods where possible.

8. Children's Privacy

Dinero is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (available in-app)
  • Export your data (CSV export in Settings)
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of any non-essential communications

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of Dinero after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
